These also include different trainings and rentals in dinghy and catamaran sailing, windsurfing and stand-up paddling (SUP).

For water hikers they offer tours across the lake Markkleeberg and lake Störmthal. If you like, you can also rent a canoe yourself.

The station is open daily from April to October.

Bisongehege

... located on the Crostewitzer Höhe on the southern shore of Lake Markkleeberg.

In addition to numerous other animal and plant species you can discover at the south of the lake grazing bisons. The "natural lawnmowers" graze on a large area at the southern shore of Lake Markkleeberg. They fulfil valuable tasks to maintain and preserve the typical country landscape.

Cruisining on Lake Markkleeberg

... runs from April to October.

Brave the crashing waves just like Christopher Columbus did and discover strange new shorelines. Young and old are able to experience different adventures at sea, thanks to 3 different passenger ships. The tour will begin at the Kanupark, just below the Seepark Auenhain, with a beautiful view of the Auenhainer Bay area. Marvel at the hustle and bustle on the northern side of the lake and the magnificent herd of bisons on the southern side, while enjoying a breath of fresh air in the bistro-restaurant cafe.

You will cross the channel at canoe park and go on to explore new shores along the Störmthaler Lake. The boat Wachau is wheelchair-accessible.

Let us take you back to your childhood and experience a ride on the “Großgartenbahn” (Electrical or steam engine). Some are even still fired up manually with coal!

From the beginning of April to the end of October, the modell trains drive through a miniature railway world over bridges and through tunnels.

Here you can watch professional athletes during training sessions or raft yourself through the raging waves of the canal.

There is a new surf spot since 2017. That‘s a standing wave for bodyboarding and wave surfing.

... is with a length of about 600 meters the largest bathing area at Lake Markkleeberg.

With the view of the crystal clear water, at the Auenhain beach you can find a beach volleyball court, a barbecue area, a dog beach and a service station. It attracts many people from everywhere for an active recreation.

Geological trail: GEOPfad project

... is the longest geological profile in the world ever recorded.

During lignite mining and mine restoration, the researchers were able to prove a billion years of geological history between Markkleeberg and Störmthal.

Since 2012 interested visitors can meet the history of the earth and humanity on an approx. 14 kilometer long course.

Markkleeberg-Ost lakeside promenade

... has a lengh of 415 meters.

The lakeside promenade with its restaurants, cafes and small shops invites guests from everywhere to stroll along the lake.

Near the lake promenade there is a beach area and an adventure playground for resting, climbing and romping.

In addition there is a jetty. It offers 20 moorings for sailors and a boat rental service.

Tours with the passenger ships MS Wachau and MS Markkleeberg on Lake Markkleeberg and through the lock to Lake Störmthal start at this jetty.
