Canoe Park Markkleeberg

At the beginning of the millennium, the people of Leipzig had a dream - Olympia 2012.

The dream was already over in 2004, when London won the bid for the 2012 Summer Games.

Planned as part of the Olympic bid, the Markkleeberg Canoe Park was actually built and opened in April 2007.

Since then, Canoe Park Markkleeberg has been one of the most modern canoe slalom courses in Europe and a visitor magnet on Lake Markkleeberg.

National and international competitions were and are held here and numerous teams from Germany and abroad regularly come to train at Lake Markkleeberg.

But Canoe Park Markkleeberg is not only interesting for professional athletes, there is also plenty on offer for "normal" water rats.

Anyone over the age of 12 can plunge into the floods in a rubber dinghy during white-water rafting. Fun and action are guaranteed!

An absolute novelty is the "Surfspot Kanupark", which will also welcome surfers from the 2017 season. A standing wave enables bodyboarding and wave surfing and can be learned even without previous experience.

Other highlights include the specials POWER and DUO rafting, hydrospeed or white water kayaking, there is something for everyone. Have a look at the Events Calendar.

The canoe park is located in the immediate vicinity of Seepark Auenhain and can be easily reached on foot in 5 minutes.

This may be one of the reasons why many athletes set up their quarters in our Seepark Auenhain.

So it could well be that you meet one or two world champions or Olympic champions here with us.
